Academic Integrity
& The Future of Learning

Our commitment to fairness, transparency, and the supportive integration of AI in education.

AI as Co-Pilot, Not Replacement

We believe that generative AI is a transformative tool for education, comparable to the calculator or the search engine. Our mission is not to ban AI, but to ensure it is used to augment human critical thinking, not replace it.

CrossPlag exists to help educators identify when the balance has tipped from “assistance” to “automation,” preserving the value of the degree and the skill of the student.

The “Human-in-the-Loop” Protocol

“An AI probability score is a data point, not a verdict.”

01

Review

Educators should analyze the “burstiness” and specific highlighted segments, not just the final percentage score.

02

Converse

Use the report as a conversation starter. Ask the student about their writing process, sources, and drafts.

03

Verify

Corroborate findings with version history (Google Docs) or oral defense of the thesis.

Mandatory Disclaimer on False Positives

No AI detection model is 100% accurate. Statistical anomalies, neurodivergent writing styles, and non-native English speakers can sometimes trigger false positives.

Policy Recommendation: CrossPlag results should NEVER be the sole basis for disciplinary action (expulsion, failing grade) without corroborating evidence.

Transparency

Students have the right to know how their work is being evaluated. We encourage institutions to include AI detection policies in their syllabi. CrossPlag reports are designed to be shareable, allowing students to see exactly which sentences raised flags.

Data Privacy

Unlike plagiarism checkers that archive student essays into a permanent database, CrossPlag operates on a Zero Retention model. Once the analysis session is closed, the text is wiped from our volatile memory. We do not train our models on student IP.
