Terms of Service
& User Agreement

Please read these terms carefully before using the CrossPlag platform. By accessing our services, you agree to be bound by these conditions.

01 Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the CrossPlag AI Detector (“the Service”), you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you may not access or use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access the Service.

02 Nature of Service & Accuracy

CrossPlag is a Linguistic Auditing Tool designed to analyze text patterns based on statistical probabilities (Perplexity and Burstiness).

Important Disclaimer: The results provided by CrossPlag are probabilistic in nature and DO NOT constitute definitive legal proof of authorship or misconduct.

You acknowledge that:

  1. False positives (human text identified as AI) and false negatives (AI text identified as human) are statistically possible.
  2. CrossPlag shall not be the sole basis for any disciplinary action, academic grading decision, or employment termination.
  3. The Service is intended to support human judgment, not replace it.

03 User Accounts & Security

To access certain features of the Service, you may be required to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.

You agree to immediately notify CrossPlag of any unauthorized use of your account or any other breach of security. CrossPlag will not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to comply with this section.

04 Fair Use & Licensing

CrossPlag grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for personal, educational, or internal business purposes.

Usage Limits:

  • Free Tier Users: Limited to manual entry scanning with daily word count caps (approx. 5,000 words/day) to prevent abuse.
  • Institutional Partners: Subject to specific volume agreements outlined in separate Enterprise contracts.

You agree not to use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to access the Service without explicit API authorization.

05 Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to engage in any of the following activities:

  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to derive the source code of the Service.
  • Using the Service to develop a competing product or service.
  • Interfering with or disrupting the integrity or performance of the Service.
  • Using the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose, including harassment or discrimination.

06 Intellectual Property Rights

Your Data: You retain all rights, title, and interest in and to the content you submit for analysis (“User Submissions”). CrossPlag claims no ownership over your text.

Our Technology: The algorithms, interface design, logos, and underlying code of CrossPlag are the exclusive property of CrossPlag Inc. and are protected by international copyright and trademark laws.

07 Payment & Subscription Terms

Subscriptions: Certain aspects of the Service may be provided for a fee. You agree to pay all fees in accordance with the pricing terms in effect at the time a charge is rendered.

Refunds: Payments are non-refundable except as required by law or as specifically granted at CrossPlag’s sole discretion. Institutional contracts may have specific refund clauses that supersede this general policy.

Cancellations: You may cancel your subscription at any time; however, you will not receive a refund for the current billing cycle. Access will continue until the end of the billing period.

08 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CrossPlag Inc., its affiliates, agents, directors, and employees shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, punitive, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including without limitation damages for loss of profits, goodwill, or data.

Specifically, CrossPlag accepts no liability for any academic penalties, reputation damage, or professional consequences resulting from the interpretation or use of our detection scores. The user assumes full responsibility for how the data is utilized.

09 Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CrossPlag and its licensee and licensors, and their employees, contractors, agents, officers, and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney’s fees), resulting from or arising out of a) your use and access of the Service, or b) a breach of these Terms.

10 Governing Law & Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of Switzerland, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in Zurich, Switzerland, unless otherwise agreed upon in writing by both parties.

11 Modifications to Service

We reserve the right to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, the Service (or any part thereof) with or without notice. We guarantee to provide at least 30 days notice for any changes that materially affect paid Institutional subscriptions.
